I want to say, “Happy New Year” to everyone. I want to thank everyone for the exciting and super 2017. Now, we are starting and expecting another great new year. Over the last couple of weeks, I have been hearing how much folks are glad the holidays are over. I do agree that my family and I are back to some normalcy in our daily routine. We are back to work, school, and going to bed at a decent hour.
However, I want to take a few moments to discuss Christmas. I see so many people have an awesome Christmas and then hear them say, “I’m glad that’s over.” Well Christmas Day may be over, but Jesus ain’t over. We need to be thankful every single day for the birth of our Savior. We need to praise Him daily. Because without Christmas Day, we have no Savior. Then we have no hope of eternity with Him. We have to be thankful and continually praising our Father in Heaven the other 364 days per year. For you see, Jesus could not be the perfect atonement for our sins if he had not been born and ultimately died on the cross. So we should praise God continually for His blessings of His Son for us.
The Bible is filled with multiple verses praising the Lord and His great name. As a matter of fact, God wants us to praise Him.
Isaiah 43:21 (NKJV) says, 21 “This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.”
Psalm 95:6 (NKJV) says, 6 “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”
And Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV) says, “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
John 4:24 (NKJV) says “24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
The Lord even gives another command in Revelation 14:7 (NKJV) when he says … “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
The psalmist said in Psalm 119:164 (NKJV), 164 “Seven times a day I praise You, Because of Your righteous judgments.” Hebrews 13:15 says that “15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”
Also, in Revelation 19:5 (NKJV) the Word says, 5 “Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both[a] small and great!”
There are many many verses in the Holy Scripture that instruct us to praise Him. Just these few verses instruct and command us to praise Him and that He does desire our praises. So please do not celebrate the Lord Jesus Christ once per year. We know that before the world began He was. He made a way for us to have salvation through His Son. I know for sure that I am thankful every day for the provision that He has made for us all who accept Him. Praise be to the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world and don’t hesitate to celebrate His birth year-round.
